Possible Wedding Color Scheme

Pink and Red With Green

Use pastel or bright pink flowers and add accents of red. Or go the other way around--red flowers with accents of bright or pale pink. Add tones of lavendar or purple from hydrangea. For texture and an loose look, use berries in deep shades of red with green foliage.

Soft Blush Tones

Create an elegant statement at your wedding if you choose pale blush colors for flowers and accents. Colors can range from soft pink to soft peach and ivory. Add touches of pearl to accent. Roses are a good choice to enhance a blush color scheme, as there are a myriad of hues of soft-toned roses. Your florist can direct you to the best varieties.

Red is Always Romantic

Red roses say "I Love You" and are very appropriate for weddings at any time of the year. Especially in the winter, red looks wonderful with berries and pine greenery and black or red gowns on the attendants. Red is also found in tulips, peonies, gerbera daisies, ranunculus, carnations, lilies, and camellias.

Nothing But Pink

For a very romantic and feminine celebration, pink is beautiful. Choose one shade of pink or use many shades from brights to pales. Roses come in a wide range of pinks, or try ranunculas, sweet peas, camellias, hydrangeas, foxglove, snapdragons, dahlias, and bright gerbera daisies.

In search for a perfect makeup primer

Reviews: primers i've tried
1. laura mercier oil-free makeup primer
->
my verdict, it doesnt help my makeup to stay put and its too thin to do anything much
2. Nars oil free makeup primer ->
similar to laura mercier, but not as good...smells & feels somewhat like white glue, thin watery, sticky and takes a long time to dry
3. coverfx primer ->
nice but not meant for comb & acne prone skin, maybe nice for dry / mature skin coz it does have some moisturizing & smoothing properties
4. Smashbox primer (clear)
->
the silicone does help to smooth out indents, creates a smooth canvas for makeup application... but might not be good to use on tzone, since it might create more oil...
5. Benefit dr. feelgood

->
breakouts, clog pores, makeup slides in 3 hrs time...
6. Clinique pore minimizer - instant perfector & tzone control ->
the tzone one does do its job to control oil but it sinks in the pores and its visible; instant perfector -> smooths pores, but not uneven texture

Tested Mac's primer at a makeover, my skin is reli red from allergies & sensitivity, but after applying the primer, it already tones down most of the redness , but i dunno if it can fill my indented scars... the makeup artist used studio fix foundation only, and didnt need to blot oils for more than 4-5 hrs...

I'm wondering if its necessary to use a sillicone base primer on my cheeks while a non-silicone, thinner primer (ie. laura mercier) on other areas of the face, but of course, it'll be necessary to prep t-zone with a mattifyer (non-alcohol).

Other possibilities:
Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch
This modern, magic makeup base with innovative line-filling technology instantly banishes lines, wrinkles, and enlarged pores with acacia micro pearls to reveal a complexion that's near perfect.
Apply over your daytime moisturizer, concentrating on areas that are finely lined or less than smooth. Can also be mixed with foundation.

MM... this one is meant for wrinkles, i wonder how it'll be with younger skin...

Tips for a blusing bride

"Brides want to look like themselves, but better" according to Geller, "so it's more about enhancing your own beauty and features than it is about what makeup artist or trends dictate." Click here for Laura's professional wedding day essentials.

Take care of beauty treatments such as facials and waxing at least two weeks before the wedding. They can temporarily irritate the skin, so give yourself time to recover.

Always start with a clean face prior to applying your wedding day makeup. Having to remove makeup can irritate skin, and any left over residue will cause the new makeup not to set as easily.

Experiment with a dewy complexion. Skin that glows is softer and complimentary to the camera.

The one day you may want to consider wearing waterproof mascara is your wedding day. Amid tears, there is no room for error.

Make sure to explain any allergies you may have to your makeup artist, red skin and flare ups can be avoided!

Summer weddings require special care. Use sun block under your makeup. Standing outside for a few hours can lead to burning. Also use a lightweight foundation so skin can breathe in the heat (otherwise you may perspire more than usual, and makeup can run). Finally, remember that perfume and heavy hairspray can attract bees, so keep the extra scents to a minimum.

Lipstick will be put to the test, as it must stay fresh for hours. Use a lipstick sealer after applying lipstick, and apply loose powder on top for even better results.

Always appoint that one friend or relative to be responsible for holding your lipstick, powder and other make up essentials, and making sure it is well applied, you'll never have time (or remember) to check your own makeup during the reception. Another good idea is to place your lipstick and powder under the flowers on your table for easy access.

Your pictures are as important at the end of the night as at the beginning. Touch up with lipstick, powder and blush after a few hours. Also, matte lipstick can appear flat and dull in photographs, so opt for something creamy.

With the many variety of long wearing cosmetic items available, consider using some of these products for your special day. They are sure to help your make up endure for hours longer.

Article: Make Sure Makeup Is Sweat-Proof

(CBS) The record-setting temperatures and humidity levels blazing across the country are not exactly what you'd call "beauty enhancers." Makeup can melt halfway down your face in seconds.

Fortunately, The Early Show makeover master David Evangelista says that you can still look pretty and put together with a few sweat-defying cosmetics.

The following are the products he recommends:

Sunless tanner – This product gives you a wash of color and idoesn't run down your face at mid-day. One application can last up to a full week. It also acts as a concealer and foundation alternative to many women, who just need a little pop of color to even out their skin tones.

Many self-tanners give your skin a glow, without making you look "fake-baked" or orange. The key is to pick a color that closely resembles your natural skin tone. If you're fair, try a light or medium color. If you usually tan to a deep bronze, try a dark formulation. Make sure you blend the sunless tanner onto your ears, neck, and décolletage so it's not obvious that you faux-tanned.

If you're a devote of the "old-school" forms of sunless tanners, try crème formulations like: Sonia Kashuk's Sunless Tanner ($14.99) or Peter Thomas Roth's Natural Looking Self Tanner ($25).

If you're scared of creams and lotions, towelettes may be the perfect solution: Estee Lauder ($23), Lancome ($28) and L'Oreal ($9.99).

If you don't want to commit to a week-long self-tan, try a long-wearing liquid bronzing tint that can be removed at the end of the day with soap and water, like Benefit's Glamazon ($26).

Tinted moisturizer - If the idea of wearing foundation isn't appealing, but you still want more coverage, the sheer hint of color that tinted moisturizer provides could be the perfect choice for you.

Not only do they provide moisture and coverage to your summer-ravaged skin, but many (if not most) will give you SPF coverage as well. Stilla's Sheer Color ($28) Trish McEvoy's Protective Shield Moisturizer ($38) Estee Lauder's Daywear Plus ($38) and Clinique's Moisture Sheer Tint ($26) all provide an SPF 15. Juice Beauty has a tinted moisturizer ($29) that provides an SPF 30. Other tinted moisturizers like Balance B ($22) use vitamins and minerals to provide added benefits to your skin.

Primers - It sounds wacky, but using a primer on your skin will help makeup stay in place. Some of the best primers around have an added bonus: They make your skin more matte and absorb excess oils.

Those in the beauty business swear by Paula Dorf's Perfect Primer ($28) and Aura Science's Airbrush Primer ($22) to get a grease-free, smooth canvas of skin. EI Solutions has a tinted primer ($39) that does the job of a primer and foundation in one. Peter Thomas Roth's Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel ($35) is a lightweight formula. A few drops spread over skin absorb and control excess oil on contact without stripping natural moisture. Alcone's SuperMatte Antishine Kit ($28) removes any signs of oil or shine, and is a favorite of magazine beauty editors all over the world.

Oil-free foundation and concealer - If you're really determined to get as much skin coverage as possible and imagine not wearing a drop of foundation or concealer, have no worries. Look for products that specifically say they're oil-free. Look for products with silica, a mineral that reduces shine.

LycoGel's Camouflage ($58 for foundation, $35 for concealer) was developed to use on the most sensitive skin types in the healing process of acne, rosacea, scarring, burns, chemical peels, laser treatment and other cosmetic procedures. Its gel formula allows the skin to breathe as it conceals, never melting or sliding off your face. Lola's Oil Free Creme Foundation ($35) is packed with SPF 8, plus vitamins A, C and E. Victoria's Secret Oil Free Cream-to-Powder foundation ($15) is lightweight and has an SPF 10, while Cargo's liquid foundation ($30) is packaged in a squeeze pouch an dhas an SPF 30. Cover FX ($35)is a full-spectrum UVA/UVB-blocking concealer/foundation that binds to the skin and is water resistant.

Stay-put eyes - Pick non-oil-based products and look for gel and liquid-based formulas. Eye pencils tend to be wax-based and prone to running in humid weather, so look for smudge-proof and water resistant gel and liquid liners.

To ensure your mascara and liner don't rub and smear onto your brow bones, dust the upper eyelids and brow bones with a light pressed powder. Waterproof mascara, a must-have for humid days, becomes notoriously smudgy against the eyelid, so "priming" the upper eye is vital.

There are lots of liquid liners available, from the inexpensive (L'Oreal Extreme Wear Liquid Liner, $7.95) to the quite expensive (Kanebo 38 degree C Silk Performance Liquid Eyeliner. Gel liners are also great to use in the summer heat.

For a smokier, sultry look try Stilla Smudge Pots ($16) to line upper and lower lids.

If you're a fan of a defined line, but don't like the liquid or gel route, there are products that can transform your eye shadow into a liner in seconds. Dip an eyeliner brush in Paula Dorf's Transformer ($17) and then in your favorite shadow, and you have an instant, waterproof liner. Benefit's She Laq ($24) comes with various makeup tools that you coat with the She Laq liquid formula, then dip those tools into shadows, liners, lipsticks, and cheeks and apply. Your makeup will be frozen in place until you remove it with cleanser and warm water.

Stay-put lips and cheeks - If you tend to have very oily skin, a cheek tint will probably work best for you. Cheek tints have long staying power, and you don't need to apply much to the skin; only 2-3 drops on each cheek are enough for the rest of the day.

If you're normal to dry, powders are a good bet.

Cream formulas work best on normal skin, but remember that a light hand is best. Choose a color that will make your cheeks pop without heavy application, and set in place with a light dusting of translucent powder.

For your lips, avoid creamy lipsticks. Again, lip tints work well, as do lip pencils. If you're attached to your favorite lipstick, look for a lip sealant, but remember to blot before applying the sealant over your lipstick.

Benetint for cheeks ($26) is an all-time favorite among makeup artists for a cheek tint that has staying power, as is Lorac's Lip/Cheek sheer wash ($17.50). Jouer Creme Blush and Lipsticks ($18 each) are sheer and can be layered. Pixi's hydrant duo ($38)combines a sheer tinted SPF 20 moisturizer in a tube, and a lip and cheek tint in a bullet-tipped applicator that serves as the cap to the moisturizer tube. If you are not willing to toss aside your lipstick for the summer, try Sephora's Lipstick Sealant ($15). And Lancome's Le Lipstique lip liner and brush gives you the staying power of lip liner with the look of lipstick.

Shine controllers - Shine controlling papers and gels are vital for almost any woman to carry around. If you want a no-muss, no-fuss solution to shine, use the blotting papers; if you're shinier than most and want a product to obliterate any sign of shine, try a gel.

Some blotting papers are very basic. Paul + Joe blotting sheets come in a wallet-style dispenser, as do Victoria Secret's blotting sheets. fancier. Oil-control rolls are like paper toweling, you can rip off a piece of it when you need it. Napoleon's Voila! Oil Control Roll ($14) and Trish McEvoy's Oil Control Paper ($13) are two popular roll-styles. Biore Shine Control blotting sheets ($5.99) also deposit powder onto the skin to help set makeup and maintain a shine-free look.

Biore has a Shine-Control moisturizer ($5.99) that leaves skin looking smooth and matte looking. The hottest product in the gel realm is Lancôme's Pure Focus T-Zone Instant Mattifying Gel ($26) a "powder gel" that can be used under or over makeup to combat shininess or to touch up makeup.

Bridal Tips

For the Bride to Be & Glamour Photos
To be sure to create flawless a look as possible, use the following tips:
Create a timeless look (not show the technique of the decade)
Create a healthy appearance - photos can make you look washed out. Barely there blush or a bronzer in the summer (in a neutral shade) is perfect for this use on top of cheeks, forehead and over the bridge of the nose
Use a heavier foundation (such as a cream) - layer foundation and powder on face
Powder foundation on neck and chest (skin appears too white if there is no coverage)
If ears are uncovered - cover with foundation
Good coverage of translucent powder
Concealer - not too light a color (medium at least) and blend foundation into concealer
With what is left on sponge - BLEND!! No raccoon eyes!
No Base Controller!
No shiny or frosted eyes or lips - they catch light and reflect to make features too large, make shadows or add age
Use neutral (brown or beigy) on eyes (no blue) - you want contouring - not color
If not sure if you have yellow or blue undertones, use neutral feature makeup (shadow, blush and lipstick)

7-day beauty countdown to your wedding day
Here are a week's worth of beauty tips to insure you look gorgeous when you say "I will."

Brides-to-be: Print this out and clip in onto your calendar so you can plan ahead to set aside the time for a 7-day beauty countdown to your wedding day.

It's a week before the big day. Everything's set. Expect the inevitable last-minute mini-crises, but in the meantime turn to... you. Use the upcoming days to get your glow going.

Here's a path to looking utterly wonderful as you say "I will."

Seven days before
Rehearse your hair and makeup. Set aside the whole day to practice, practice, practice. Trying out new makeup shades? A special updo? Have a gentle cleanser and eye makeup remover on hand for "erasing."
Ask a co-conspirator to photograph you in the makeup and hair looks you love (wear your bridal headpiece) so you can see how each comes off in pictures. (Digital photos are great for fast feedback.)

Start to prep your nails.
Treat ragged or dry cuticles by massaging in moisturizer or a cuticle-specific treatment product. If your nails are weakened, use a protein treatment today and again three or four days before the wedding to strengthen them.

Is your skin as stressed as you are?
Organizing a wedding can feel like a full-time job, on top of the one you already have. Visit your favorite spa for a facial massage if your skin is looking tired and dull; it restores radiance and protects your skin from free radicals.

Tips:
• Even if you're wearing your hair down for the wedding, build in some height at the crown with blow-drying. Ultra-sleeked hair can look flat in photos.
• Matte finish makeup on your face and eyes will photograph better than heavy shimmer. Plan to keep loose powder handy on the big day for dusting down shine.
• Make long-wearing makeup the last one you try today, so you can leave it on all day and put its staying power to the test. Try airbrush makeup for an all day look. It also doesn't rub off on clothing if you would also like your shoulders done.
• You'll want to pay attention to your nails every day starting now: cuticles, shape, maybe experimenting with color in the next few days.

Six days before
Sleep. Really. Once the week's momentum picks up, you'll be too busy and excited to get the rest you need. Put some in the sleep bank now.

Five days before
Do a facial. Plan at least an hour for this revitalizing, glow-inducing, three-step facial or better yet, have it done professionally.

1. Cleanse using a product formulated for your skin type whether it be oily, normal or dry. Lightly pat skin to dry.

2. Exfoliate your skin with a quick, 10-minute mask. Wet some cotton pads with cool water and put them over the eyes and relax.

3. Moisturize as usual with lotion for oily skin and cream for dry skin, adding sunscreen if your moisturizer doesn't contain it.

Four days before
Pamper your body. Get a massage today and follow it with a dreamy bath at home. (It's time to start softening up your feet for a pedicure, anyway.) How about a fabulous aromatherapy scent for your bath-maybe. Check out some of the great scents on the market. You'll want a body-polishing gel or scrub as part of your bath, too, to smooth your skin to perfection. Another treat: a big bath brush, to stimulate skin and reach every last inch.

Do a foot check.
How bad are they? Get an idea of what your feet will require in terms of time to get them looking honeymoon-ready and build that time into your two-day-before schedule.

Three days before
Take a deep breath, things are heating up. Fine-tune. Now may be the moment to make a withdrawal from your sleep bank: things are getting hectic. If your eyes are looking weary, soothe on your favorite eye gel. It should work on contact to minimize puffiness. (Store it in the fridge for extra oomph.)

Hair day
This is the day to get a bikini wax if you need one, and the best moment to deep-condition or condition-gloss your hair, so the treatment will have a couple of days to get settled.

Two days before
Perfect your pedicure. Apply your tan. Try an all over even and very safe airbrush tan.

Tips:
If doing self tanning try these tips:

• For only the barest hint of color from your self-tanner, mix it with a little moisturizer to dilute the shade.

• Color from self-tanner deepens with each application.

Gather your pedicure tools: foot file, soak, sloughing cream. Don't forget clippers, an emery board and nail color, too. The steps to sexy feet? Soak; file down calluses and rough spots; apply sloughing cream; soak again to rinse; moisturize; clip and file; color.

The day before
Bathe, luxuriously. Do your nails. Shape your brows. Gleam your skin. Aim to have all your running around finished by today, so you can fully enjoy getting into the bridal spirit. (Delegate last-minute fixes to bridesmaids, family or friends.) Come noon, you should be soaking in a bubble-rich tub! Let the warm water steam your face; do a quick exfoliation afterwards.

The big day!
Eeeek! Is that a blemish??
A little thing like a wedding can sure stress your face. No big deal. Have a cover up concealer ready. Keep it in your wedding-day survival kit.

Bobbi Brown's tips on asian eyes

Defining the brow adds strength to the face and is a great way for Asian women to enlarge the entire eye area. Learn detailed how-to's on defining brows with Eye Shadow and Natural Brow Shaper in All About Brows section.

Next, apply a base Eye Shadow from lash to brow, with the Eye Shader Brush. I recommend Bone for Asian women. Then apply a medium shade such as Sable, Toast, Vanilla, or Shell Eye Shadow or Beige Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow to the lower lid, from the lashline to the crease, using the Eye Shadow Brush.

Line the eye along the lashline with Eye Shadow in a darker shade like Mahogany, Rich Brown, Charcoal, or Smoke, using the Eye Liner Brush. I recommend finishing with 3 coats of Everything Mascara in Black, since Asian lashes are often sparse. For a more dramatic look, try Lash Glamour Lengthening Mascara in Smoke. If your lashes are extremely thin, apply a smoky powder liner with the Eye Liner Brush to create the appearance of thick lashes.

For fabulous eyes, brush a light shadow all over from lid to brow and a medium color from the lashline to three-fourths up. Line eye all the way around with a thick, smoky line, heavier on the upper than the lower lid. Make sure the line is smoky, not thin and hard. Avoid too-dark eye shadow colors that make the eye look smaller.

For long-lasting liner, use Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner applied with the Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush to create soft to dramatic looks.

TOUCHUPS
Carry these essentials for touch-ups during pictures and the reception: Concealer, Pressed Powder, Lip Color and Lip Gloss, mints, and tissues.

Makeup tips for asians

Multi-Cultural Beauty Challenges

In today's world, people come in all colors, and it's all beautiful.

America may be the great melting pot, but as ethnicities blend to create exquisite beauties, not all cosmetic companies have caught up.

Our first model, Kay is Asian American.

Beauty Challenge – How to make Asian Eyes Pop and what to do for lashes that stick straight out.

Products used on Kay:

MAC #7 Lashes – False lashes are the quickest way to make your eyes look bigger. It's a fun and inexpensive way to give your eyes more shape and really accentuate your eyes.

Origins Underwear for Lashes – great for anyone wanting to build up thin lashes. Apply it before your mascara to get the effect of full, lush lashes. A definite favorite!

Shiseido Eyelash Curler – A must for every woman! Great to use to instantly open up the eye.

Chanel “Variations” Eyeshadow – Beautiful peach tones really accentuate her skin tone as well as her eyecolor.

All these products are available at department stores like Marshall Fields or www.marshallfields.com.

Our second model, Adia, is African American.

Beauty Challenge – Can't find the right colors to match skintone and to show up on her skintone.

Products used on Adia:
MAC Face and Body Foundation – Great to custom blend your own foundation if needed. Find a color close to your skin tone and add a drop of the pure pigment. Blend together for the perfect shade. On Adia we used the pure brown mixed with NC45 Face and Body.

Posner Cosmetics – Great, inexpensive line for multi-cultural women.

Opt for colors high in pigment or made specifically for women of color. Products that do not have high pigment levels tend to turn ashy and gray on the skin. Also avoid products that are high in frost and have a lot of talc in them.

Oil of Olay Daily Facial Express – with any makeup, it's important to remove it before going to bed. I like these because they're quick and easy to use.

All these products are available at department stores and drugstores…Posner and Oil of Olay can both be found at a drugstore and I love being able to mix drugstore and department store products together.

Our Third model, Nadia, is Indian American.

Beauty Challenge – How to cover dark circles and not accentuate wrinkles around the eyes:

Products used on Nadia:
Oil of Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum – Important to prep the eye area before applying concealer to avoid caking over dry skin.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage – Opt for a yellow-based concealer with good coverage.

Inside Tip: Mix a small amount of eyecream with a small amount of concealer to avoid accentuating fine lines around the eye.

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder – Set with a very finely milled loose powder so you don't lose all your hard work concealing in a few hours. Make sure the powder is silky.

These techniques are something anyone can incorporate into their own beauty routine. And of-course customize to ones own skintone and beauty challenge. And don't forget, whatever your skintone is, everything starts with great looking skin which is a huge trend this season. So make sure to whip your skin into shape first!

More Makeup Tips

Beauty Tips For Everyone

Invisible Shield
To hold your makeup longer, seal it with a spray sealer. Lots of professionals use it. Ben Nye is a recommended brand. The hold may vary in different individuals with different skin type. Spray seal is not recommended for every day, all day use. Final seal is a very good solution for those hot and steamy days to hold your makeup on longer.

Double coverage or thin coverage
If you need a double coverage, you can use a mineral foundation on the top of your liquid foundation. Mineral powder foundation has a bit of shine and glow to it and it gives a good second shield of coverage to your flaw less skin. Or you may use this product for a very light coverage by just brushing it on the bare skin. EMANI is the recommended brand for this product.

My lips are sealed
It is a medium seal by Benefit called Shelaq. The way I use it is to color the whole lips with a desirable lip liner then I brush Shelaq over it and let dry for few minutes. Then apply a touch of lipstick or gloss on the top. You can go back on lipstick for another brush of Shelaq but do not Shelaq the lip-gloss. This product also holds your color from running. You may use Shelaq to seal your eyebrows as well as your lip liner.

Sixty percent of aging is caused by sun damage
It is recommended to use a good sun protection with a minimum SPF of thirty to avoid further damages and preserve your skin’s health. In order to repair your skin at the same time you may use a sun block, which contains nutrients and vitamins like (A, C, E) on the same product.

What is the motor injection air brush makeup?
It's a technique that is used mostly for TV and media work. It looks fine on the film and screen as well as body painting. But it looks pasty up close and in real life. Why we use it so much on films? Because it is fast and easy since in film industry we don't have much time to apply a fully-cared manual application.

Eyebrows
With the help of a thin/ firm bristle brush and a medium brown powder eye-shadow draw your eyebrows. You may slightly wet the brush to get a heavier deposit. Browns come in varies shades. An ash- brown color is recommended for some one with gray or ash blond, or ash brown hair. If your hair is colored in vine red tone use a red brown with cool tone like mahogany or taupe. If you are a red haired with more warm/orange or gold tone you may use a brown with copper and warm tone to it like a brick color.
PS: Make sure the tone is coordinating, the texture is Matt and the debt is medium for your skin tone. Some recommended tones from M.A.C Cosmetics are CORK, SWISS CHOCOLATE, CORDROY, COQUETTE, and OMEGA. They also have a proper brush for the application, which is called an Angled Brush.

Even out the red
If you have a reddish color skin and can not find any color foundation or base to cover up or match. You may use a sheer color corrector or tinted moisturizer of yellowish green or olive green to even out and neutralize the red, then you may apply a sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer over it. Brushing a powder foundation is recommended after using a tint corrector.
You may put some color back to your face by using a proper bronzer under cheekbones to enhance your face. Do not use a pink or any bright tone blush in this particular case.

Water proof makeup verses water resistance makeup?
The difference between the two is: that water resistant makeup only resist water and body perspirations. It is less durable but easier to remove when needed to be removed and in most time removable with a general remover. It is recommended for every day use. For example if you use a water proof mascara every day, and try to remove it every night perhaps after one month you have no lashes left since it is very difficult to get it dissolved and removed. It is not recommended for every day use. Water proof makeup is not really water proof at all the times. This term is used to tell you that the makeup is more resistance to water. Perhaps you need to have a cream base cleanser to remove it. It is recommended to be used for occasions. And please remember that regardless of its resistance the makeup is not tattooed to the skin it is still fragile and will be removed if you touch your face and get careless with it.

What color lipstick should I be wearing?
Figure-out your favorite tones by checking your wardrobe and your general interest in colors (cool or warm). We can place you in one of the two categories of colors below. Hey, you may even choose both! Do not forget that if you are trying to achieve a pale lip look, you must cover the natural color of your lips by applying some foundation on it. Then line it and use your lipstick over it.

She chose warm:

BRIGHT WARM TONES: Suitable for individuals with smaller lips or those who simply wish to make their lips look larger and fuller. Bright warm tones would be: Orange- Red Orange- Gold - Copper- Warm Beige or Cream and Caramel.
DEEP WARM TONES: Suitable for any one with medium to larger lips to keep lips not looking too extreme. Deep warm tones would be Yellow Browns- Orange Browns- Mahogany- Deep Warm Reds and Chocolate color.
She chose cool:

BRIGHT COOL TONES: If you like cool colors and you wish to show your lips larger and fuller go for these colors: Fuchsia- Magenta- Cool (Pink) Reds- Lilacs and Pinks.
DEEP COOL TONES: So you like the cool tones better and you have the lip size to carry deeper tones. Then you could go for: Cool Browns and Taupe- Plums - Deep Purples and Blue tone Burgundy.

So we got all the "proper" choices down, however when it comes to fashion and In-Style there are no rules. So go ahead and look fabulous and trendy if you wish. I must say that if you have small set of lips you should stay away from any deep and dark colors since these shades only reduce the size of your lips. However if you have a good size lips you may feel free to use any color but be careful with the bright tones you do not want to look like just a set of lips walking. You know what I mean!

More makeup tips for my bridal party & myself

Bridal Makeup Artist / Beauty Tips

Bridal makeup: is a clean, flawless, pearly and enhanced makeup, color choices are; warm tone colors such as” cream, gold, pastel green, peaches and browns or cool tone colors such as lilacs, violets, plums and soft pinks.” Bridal makeup is not a club or an evening party makeup so keep the consistency medium or low.
Remember that neutral colors are always an excellent choice to achieve an enhanced natural look for a sophisticated and sexy bride.

Bridal Hair style: Bridal hairdo is recommended to be an up-do or a half up half down. The reason for the recommendation is that suggested styles would be very practical in terms of keeping the style and shape for a very long time as well as being comfortable and cool especially in summer season. If you are going for more of a sophisticated classic look, a full up-do is recommended. If you are going for more of a romantic look half up and half down is the look for you. Another popular do is The Low-Do. It is referred to a large bun shape around the lower neck area. This is a chic and modern style for a fashionable bride.

What is a Neutral color? It is referred to the various shades of earth tones. Colors that are subtle and mudded. It is also an average consistency of beige and browns. Neutral Browns could surly come in the slight hints of pink or green or gray. Taupe is a popular neutral brown with a hint of plum color to it.
Bridal makeup must be durable and resistant to last the whole event. It must work for pictures, film and also look flawless in actual and close-up.

Color coordination: All the colors used in your makeup should be in the same family and coordinate. You could either use the cool tones or warm tones. Do not mix up cool and warm together.

Theme coordinating: The whole look should follow the same theme (hair, makeup, jewelry and gown, shoes, etc). Read on the other weddings and bridal tips pages for more hints and useful information and tips.

Tips to find a makeup artist for your up-coming occasion? Imagine it is your big day, the final and very important detail of your preparation to start your whole experience is your hair and makeup. It always strikes me that how much money is spent in a wedding to please family and friends verses to giving to the main person “the bride,” whom is the center and the star of the show. Everyone is there to see the bride. Dear bride, do not deprive your guests and yourself from the best possible show of your lifetime. You need to have the best and you deserve it. Here are some hints on what to look into when hiring a makeup artist, Punctuality and Timing, Confidence, Professionalism, Hygiene, Personality or Attitude, Years of Experience, Makeup Kit and Quality of Cosmetics.

Hiring a makeup artist from a makeup counter? It is a No-No; please do not give one of the most important details and last minute thing on your big day to a makeup counter girl - why? With all do respect, her priority is her counter job not her commitment with you. If she happens to get a call from the counter manager on the last minute, most likely she will choose to go to her regular work instead of meeting with you and doing your makeup on the day of event. After all, it is her main source of income - wouldn’t you do the same thing? Hire a professional who is doing makeup and hair for a living and perhaps this is their only job.

Hiring out a makeup artist from a wedding makeup and hair agency or a salon? You must be careful to make sure whom you are doing your trial session with, is the same person that you will get on your wedding day. Why? Let say that Jacky is very good artist who charges more than Anna. Anna is an inexperienced artist and charges very little. Isn’t that possible that you get the trial session with Jacky and they send Anna to your event since it will cost the agency much less? What if they have not paid Jacky for her last few works and Jacky decides to not to show up? Isn’t it better idea to work with an artist directly rather than having a middle man? After all, what possibly could you do in the last minute of your preparation on the date of your event? Don’t you think it is worth to hire a professional?

Beauty salon for a wedding makeup and hair style? Here is what to watch for: traditionally beauty salons do not do contracts and just exchange words with the clients and make a note in a general shop calendar. The problem with this method is that the salon artists must be sure that they have work booked up for the day of event also. In that case what happens is they over book for the sake of “potential cancellations” by a few of the reserved clients. In most cases all of the clients show up and that is why it is known that salon weddings are to be late for their timing. So a detailedcontract may save you a lot of hassle and time if you are working with a salon artist. I don’t see why not working with a punctual and talented salon artist if that is what you wish to do.

Is it necessary to do a contract or written agreement & to secure your reservations? Please be aware of an artist who is not prepared to give you his or her written commitment. It is an excellent way of reinsuring your reservation. It also shows that your artist will keep a track of time and other details of the day of event. Isn’t that a sign of professionalism as well as punctuality?

Here are the numbers you do the math! Bottom line you want to have a skilled confident artist who can create a look that you have always had in your mind. An artist who can help you see the most beautiful of you and help you find out the best possible “look” for you as well as achieving it. The artist who is respectful of your need and desire also contributes her/his opinion to benefit the situation along with professional attitude. You do not want to sit on somebody’s chair for one hour and be uncomfortable. After all makeup is very personal and intimate experience. It could easily become one of the worst or best experiences of your life. Remember makeup is the last detail to start your big day so why not for it to be fun and a pleasant event. And it sure could be. So do your homework and if you have to pay a little more just do it, because you’re worth it. Remember to ask for a detailed contract at the time of leaving your deposit.

What is a bridal, vender contract/ agreement? A bridal contract is a paper that states all the details of the service, as well as the deposit amount and the total of costs. This is a promise proof from your vender to you. A verbal promise may not hold as strong. This is exchanged between the vender professional and the bride at the time of booking. The contract will provide a security and an understanding of the nature of the services for both parties. Make sure you get a detailed contract from your vender and be aware of venders who won’t offer one.

How do you know how much to pay for a good makeover? How much an artist worth to pay for? Can you really put a price on an artwork? How do you do that? Well, let me give you few tips to help you weed out some troubles to help you hire an artist who is worth your budget.
Makeup & hair is the last detail and one of the most important elements to start your special day. Every artist has his or her price; however the price could vary from range of $50 to $1000 or may be in some cases more or less.
Of course $50 would hire you an Avon lady who would try to sell you cosmetics on the day of the special event. For some clients, it may not be an option to pay $1000 for a makeup application. So let’s get in to the point.
Word of mouth, referrals and web site search will lead you to some artist which you will be choosing yours. Do a trial session and if you decided to hire the artist sign a contract for exchange of your security deposit to secure the date.

Need help to find- out what you want for your makeup and hair style? If you happened to know what sort of makeover you would like to have it makes it easy for everyone. First get a few bridal or fashion and style magazine. Check out the looks and see which ones interest you the most, earmark the pages, and show it to your artist. You may start your communication to your artist by showing pictures and descriptions, and it is all up to you to make the final decision. Trial makeup is absolutely recommended. Not only it helps you to evaluate the skill of the artist but also it helps to find these important points about the artist. Punctuality and Timing, Confidence, Professionalism, Hygiene, Personality or Attitude, Years of Experience, Makeup Kit and Quality of Cosmetics. These are some of areas to look in to at the time of try makeup.

If you are getting what you want it is worth any money. If you are not sure what you would like to have, it is a good idea to get some honest opinion from a friend or a person who understands makeup and style. Your grandmother or aunt, or someone in that rank, does not count. You want to ask people who like makeup and ware makeup. Remember that no need to ask for opinion of too many people because you can not possibly make everyone happy.

Water proof makeup verses water resistance makeup? The difference between the two is: that water resistant makeup only resist water and body perspirations. It is less durable but easier to remove when needed to be removed and in most time removable with a general remover. It is recommended for everyday use. For example if you use a water proof mascara every day, and try to remove it every night perhaps after one month you have no lashes left since it is very difficult to get it dissolved and removed. It is not recommended for everyday use.

The motor injection air brush makeup: is a technique that I use mostly for TV and media work. It looks fine on the film and screen as well as body painting. But it looks pasty up close and in real life and I don’t like to use it for brides. Why we use it so much on films? Because it is fast and easy since in film industry we don't have much time to apply a fully-cared application.

Is air brush makeup recommended for brides? When it comes to weddings, I put so much extra care, because it is a once a life time event. So I use the best product and the proper application to avoid any risks of skin rash caused by strange chemicals that maybe in some products. I also make sure that my safe products can also create a fantastic flawless look up-close as well as on the print and film. My recommendation for the bridal makeup is a line ofprofessional products that are safe, flash proof, stay-on, and manually brushed or sponged on the skin. As far as air brush makeup goes I only recommend only a certain type of canned air brush makeup which I use in some occasions. I do not recommend any air injector air brush makeup for a bridal application. In my opinion and experience it looks heavy on the face, the products are risky (skin rash) and it does not hold as well as some other products. Just because it is called air brush makeup, doesn’t mean it creates air brushed and flawless look.

What are a Bridal trial session& consultation for makeup and hair? Bridal consultation is a conversation exchanged bettween a professional and the bride about how he or she would provide the service and how everything works. Also often in the consultation some professional advise and give their opinion to help the bride choose the right service for herself. Please ask a lot of questions from your vender since it usually offered free of charge. Yes you heard it right consultation is normally free. However, consultation is a conversation it does not include the trial session or any product or service. You may also use the consultation time to evaluate and eliminate some artist and make your final choices. Consultation could take place on line or in person or by phone.

Makeup Artist Boot Camp: No clumpy mascara especially over top of the false eyelashes. No red lipstick and no dark lip liner to frame your beige color lips. It looks bad. Too much tan looks tacky. Too little blush looks sick. Keep the balance in your overall look and respect your elderly and your makeup artist. Now do fifteen sit ups and ten pushups, because that’s what we do in the makeup artist booth camp. Oh yeh baby bride!

Some Pre wedding day makeup & preparation tips

Have a person in charge of your needs: such as your food and water, makeup touchup and etc. Let’s call her Janet. Janet must carry a bottle of water and a straw along with the makeup touchup kit. Janet has to remind you to eat and drink water as well as breathing properly at all times. Janet must have a small safety kit of hair pins, safety pins, sewing kit along with setting makeup powder, your lip color, mild pain killer, Q-tips, paper tissue and according to your calendar she may have to carry some tampons. Hey, you never know! Janet should keep her eyes on you the whole time to make sure all your commands and needs are provided. She can not leave your site she is your support, strength and your true friend to take you through the day. Isn’t that fun!

Some words for Janet: Dear Janet, I know it is a very sensitive situation and you must give a lot of yourself and get really involved. I am positive this will bring you and the future bride closer to each other or ….It is all up to you two. Be aware that some times people under pressure and stress may become a little annoying or “B.” Remain calm and try to understand it. I am sure you will receive a good appreciation present from our generous bride, or maybe not!

Bridal shoes: Dear bride, try to have a second pair of very comfortable shoes handy on your big day, or just have a few different pairs of shoes and change every few hours because changing your shoes a couple times during the whole day helps to keep your feet less stressed.

Is it OK for the bridal to have facials ahead of time? My answers is yes, but do it way ahead of time and do your spa and message at least 2 or 3 days prior to your event, so you are not sore and in pain on your big day. Also, do your facial a month or even more ahead of your big day, only if it is your first time of course, if not at least a week ahead of time because you never know how your skin may act up after a facial. Some people may experience acne or redness after their facial. It is also a good idea to avoid using any new skin care products near to your wedding date. Don’t forget that a little extra precaution is always good to keep things in tact.

No drinking the night before: Drinking normally causes skin flakiness and inflammations as well as emotional irritations the day after, So just because you are a little nervous the night before, doesn’t mean you should drink heavily. If it helps you just do it moderately and I mean it in a reasonable sense. I have seen many brides suffering from hangovers and mood swings as well as headaches and dehydrations on the day of event, all because of drinking the night before. So manage to get a good sleep without getting “smashed.”

What happens to my makeup if I cry? Number one rule is that you should not cry. You are going to purchase a makeup and I don’t think crying is going to help it. Number two, stay away from anybody who is crying since looking at a crying person makes a lot of people cry. Let everyone know that this is a wedding not a “cry competition.” So then if they wish to cry please try to do it in private. Now let say if you did shed a few drops, then what? So try to catch the tears before it gets to the crease of your eyes. Raise your eyebrows and wide open your eyes and keep some tissue handy to hold over your tear glances. I know, it sounds funny but there is no other way to it. Here are some tips. Have a little thank- you or goodbye speech the day before with your parents or your love ones. Make yourself really cry. Let’s call it a cry-party. This helps to reduce the tear presser of your eyes. Here is another one - do not have your bacheloreete party to close to the night of your event. You need to get a good sleep the night before.

Water proof makeup verses water resistance makeup? The difference between the two is: that water resistant makeup only resists water and body perspirations. It is less durable, but easier to remove when needed to be removed and in most time removable with a general remover. It is recommended for everyday use. For example, if you use water-proof mascara every day, and try to remove it every night perhaps after one month you have no lashes left since it is very difficult to get it dissolved and removed. It is not recommended for everyday use. Water proof makeup is not really water proof all the time.

Can’t find any wedding vender? Want more choices? It is always good to have a lot of choices when it comes to shopping for your wedding. This is possible only if you start your search a little earlier. How early? Within 6 months up to a year. Summer weddings may start the search about a year ahead of time since summer is a high season for all the wedding venders. If your wedding is in winter you could perhaps ask for discounts $$$ and rate deductions since it is a slow season. So get some binders, get organized, and start your search ahead of time so that everything will come smoother closer to the event. Trust me; you don’t want to be overwhelmed.

Watch out for family conflicts: The most common thing that happens around your big day is family conflicts. One thing you must keep in mind is that it is the once-in-a-lifetime event that is absolutely yours. You are the bride; therefore you should decide and make the final decision. Believe me you will thank me later for this advise. So be assertive and don’t let others talk or guilt you in to making their fantasies come true in your wedding, because this one day absolutely belongs to you my dear.

Your perfect picture: It is a good idea to take at least about 20 to 30 portrait pictures of yourself before the ceremony starts. This is when your hair and makeup is still fresh and you are not as “tired.” Besides, it takes a minimum of that many pictures in order to get 2 or 3 final pictures that are looking pleasing in every way. Even models have a low percentage of having useable pictures in their set of one hundred photos. So the more you portrait yourself the better chance you have to see the perfect picture that will make it to the frame. Remember you are paying, so you can always ask for what you want and how you want it done.

Oh my God! This is not what I have ordered!!! I have witnessed on many occasions that a bride received an order of flowers which was not anything like she ordered. This may happen with any service. The best thing to avoid this situation is to have a picture of the flower arrangements or any other thing that you may want to order. Copy the picture and hand one to your vender. Let them stamp or sign on your copy. Along with it also do a sheet and note all the details and specifics to clarify all there is to know, for example the music and its order or the hair style and its details and etc. the reason being is venders are very busy and from time to time they may forget specifics. Second being that it makes it easy to communicate and have an understanding with your vender.

Always ask your vender to arrive on the event site shortly before they are needed. And please contact them 30 minutes ahead of the promised time to make sure they are on their way. Timing is everything in a wedding please do not wait for your vender to be 10 minutes late and then call them to see where they are. Call your vender 30minutes before hand and check their situation and location. This will avoid delays. Trust me; it won’t offend your vender.

The motor injection air brush makeup: is a technique that I use mostly for TV and media work. It looks fine on the film and screen as well as body painting. But it looks pasty up close and in real life and I don’t like to use it for brides. Why we use it so much on films? Don’t forget that it is ok to get a little bratty since it is your special day and you are the princess, so be prepared, have fun and remain calm and enjoy the most special day of your life...
